Why Do I Need My Data Offsite?

Data can be lost easily, by all sorts of methods. I have detailed the main causes below:

Causes of data loss

Causes                Percentage
Human Error              26%
Natural Disaster         2%
Computer Virus          4%
Hardware Problem     56%
Software Problem       9%

Although the vast majority of data loss can be recovered using the traditional "take to backup tape off the shelf" method there are times when you simply can't get the tape. Ask the victims of the floods in 2007 if it was that simple.

I would always recommend keeping a local backup copy onsite if only to allow a speedy restore when the inevitable happens. However I can't stress the importance of keeping a copy offsite you will be glad you did if the unthinkable was to happen.

Simply backup can create both local and remote backups at the same time, which in effect give you the peace of mind in having your important company data securely stored in 3 separate location across the country.
